I had the pleasure of photographing Gracies's birthday this past weekend at Sparkle Dazzle! It was so fun working with all those adorable little girls all done up diva style. They had the most delicious cupcakes and adorable party favors and I instantly fell in love. The party favor was a dum-dum ball and at the end all the girls giggled and grabbed away for their dum-dums.... it was simply adorable. Needless to say my next round of birthdays for my kiddies this year will have dum-dum ball favors :)

Desiree and Steve were such a good looking, fun couple I could photograph them forever! I just love it when clients put so much thought into their sessions and pay attention to all the small details. Their outfits went together so well and complimented their car, which was a major prop for this session, P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Not to mention the adorable hat Desiree brought for the session was so cute and different from the mundane usual. As many of you already know I am on maternity leave and was expecting another "practice model"....I mean bundle of joy this just past holiday season. I have been so busy around here getting use to 3 little ones instead of 2 and dealing with a few health issues of Savannas but I finally found the time to get some portraits taken and get her birth announcements out. Hopefully sometime soon I will actually be insane enough to attempt to get some portraits of all 3 of my babies together. Let me tell you there is nothing that makes my kids turn into little monsters who dont smile faster then pulling out my camera so wish me luck and without further adieu here is Miss Savanna...

Of course we had to drive all the way to Payson to get it but it was so worth it! With my 3rd child expected the end of this year I have decided to take a small step back from the business side of photography and get back into enjoying it more as a hobby and devoting more time to family. I am still in business and happily accepting clients just not as many sessions/weddings a year now. As part of this choice I have decided to get out there and start using my camera on more of a daily basis to catch the simple things in life. Well luck was on my side as I decided to go out and shoot some pictures of Brooklynn playing the other day that there was a storm on the way and the weather was simply yummy! As some of you may know my little Brooklynn is quite an animated young lady, she is so packed full of personality and she loves to dance and act and dress up. She changes her outfits about 10-20 times a day according to which movie/character she is currently portraying and also loves to randomly piece together her dance class outfits for play. It happens this day she was wearing one of her dance leotards with a skull and cross bones and found a handy dandy BBQ skewer to pretend to be Captain Hook while dancing around the yard and playset fighting off imaginary villians ( I guess the ones other than her currently portrayed villian. ) We were also lucky enough to catch some rain while we out playing.

I hope all of you enjoy these shots as much as I enjoyed snapping them and take a moment to bask in the joyous memories of childhood they invoke.

We thought he was ready to arrive back at the end of July but he had other plans and made us wait until his due date, yeppers thats right he ended up arriving right on his due date. It was well worth the wait though because it was an amazing experience and mom did a great job getting him here all natural.

This year the 4th of July was G-R-E-A-T! Why you may ask was it so great this year? Well simply because as usual it was spent in the company of my wonderful family. My husband, our 2 beautiful children and of course my absolutely wonderful mother and cousin JJ were there to help make our holiday great as usual. Not to mention the weather gods were really on our side this past weekend and we had a much needed respite from the horrid heat, well as much of a respite as you can have in July in AZ :) The only down side this year was that my darling little girl became quite ill almost as soon as we arrived for fireworks and ended up being sick through the finale but you wouldn't know by talking to her because luckily as is normal with most 3 year olds she just cared about the fireworks. Well enough of my babbling and on to the exciting part...

I had the pleasure of meeting Lupe one day while running late to get out of the dance studio my daughter dances at. It was meant to be that I was running late that day because Lupe had been on the fence about weather or not to hire a professional photographer for her 3 sons Communion and Celebration and bumping into me that day decided it for her. For once I sure am glad I was running late :) I got to grab some portraits of these 3 wonderful boys and their sponsors as well as some celebration and family shots. Did I almost forget to mention that Lupe had some A-W-E-S-O-M-E food that she was gracious enough to share with my assistant and I? I swear I could work for food payment if the food was always so delicious!

This Bride had the cutest little tradition in her family of pinning a penny to her dress. Forgive me if I ruin this story a little but my memory can be spacey these days with the pregnancy. Either the Brides great-grandmother or grandmother had a penny in her shoe the day she walked down the isle for good luck and has passed it down through the generations. Well in todays fashion the bride was not able to put a penny in her high heels so they strung it on ribbon and pinned it to her dress! How cute is that? Her mother got to do the honors and it was such a cute tradition and I was glad to be apart of it!

So back to the cute couple, I really had a great time working with Ashley and Fred and definitely their wonderful friends and family! Let me tell you this Bride put tons of thought into her wedding and it showed, she had so many cute details, I think this is the most detail shots I have ever taken! Everything was so thoughtful and adorable Ashley...Good Job! Fred was such a wonderful Groom and it was refreshing to see one so involved and absolutely loving. Thanks you both for being so wonderful to work with.

They were married at an adorable little chapel at ASU in an intimate ceremony. I have spent months getting prepared for this show, practically since the New Year I have been planning, designing, printing and prepping. I was so nervous shooting this families session since the mom is a fellow photographer but they were so nice and great to work with that I didn't fall to nervous pieces! This house was gorgeous and had a beautiful lake behind it that ended up great for shooting! So tomorrow me and the family are off on our road trip up north. This is a much needed mini-vacation from life's hectic schedule for us. So everyone send me some good vacation photo vibes! I know, I know I drive the husband crazy with my incessant need to take portraits all the time and everywhere we go but hey that is me. All I have been thinking about is the way cool pics I can shoot while up north so wish me luck and my family patience. I will post pics when we get back and I actually have the time to throw a few up for everyone.

Sure I decided to end maternity leave a little early but it couldn't have been more worth it for the chance to capture these two on camera. I had the pleasure this weekend of taking maternity portraits for a very good friend of mine and it was a blast! Not only were her and her boyfriend gorgeous and great to work with but they totally let me try some new things with them which was exciting! I can't wait til next weekend to do another more artsy session and especially for little baby boy Ryders arrival so I can shoot some newborn portraits!

This winter 2009 Dorothy Tess Photography will be publishing it's new packages for weddings as well as portraits. With the new packages comes a new pricing scale. I belive in customers recieving not only the quality you deserve but also in providing it to you at the most reasonable prices I can. So with this is mind I devised my new pricing scale and tried to keep it as affordable and close to my previous pricing as possible. Keep in mind that my hourly fee has not gone up but the prices have changed due to newer higher quality products. I have chosen a new album company, new print company, and will be offering many new and exciting products. As part of the new pricing and packages change I will no longer offer a disc of images with my packages but will instead sell prints.

As a side note anyone who has already booked a wedding or portrait session will still pay the same and recieve all that was discussed and previewed. Also anyone who books a session any time before the new pricing and packages is in effect will still recieve old packages and pricing.

I am just so excited about the new products I will post a sneak peek of just a few of the new photo handbags I will be offering. These are a great way to carry and share the memories you treasure most in a durable, trendy and unique way!

After being preggo for what seemed like an eternity our newest arrival made his debut on June 17th after a scheduled induction and an exciting and wonderful delivery. I have been enjoying the heck out of my maternity leave but can't wait to get back in the game and start shooting again. Actually I have cheated and have done some personal sessions with the new baby and Brooklynn and I will post some pics from them asap for you all to enjoy!

This last weekend on the 28th I had the pleasure of photographing Nisha and Dusty's wedding at a family home in Chandler. This home was so beautiful and the wedding was gorgeous! The bride, Nisha, looked like she came right out of Brides magazine! She was so stunning and great to work with and Dusty and her had the 2 cutest little girls ever! I had an absolute blast this Saturday at Talona and Carlos's wedding!! It was the most beautiful wedding ceremony and reception I have seen, it all just took my breath away! Everything went great for us, great weather, great lighting and locations and everyone was a dream to work with. The bride, groom, bridal party and family were all so courteous and wonderful to work with. Not to mention the brides uncle almost brought me to tears with a compliment that made my year! I had an awesome experience this last weekend shooting my first Catholic wedding! It was so different and I really enjoyed it. The church was beautiful and so was the ceremony. Everything was just so new and different for me with this wedding and I learned a lot. Lizena and Esteban were great to work with and you could tell they were so in love. We were a little worried the rain might force us inside for this beautiful ceremony but it held off til we were done! It ended up being so beautiful and perfect for Amber and Donalds sunset courtyard ceremony. I loved the overcast sky and all the birds flying around and the general ambiance of the ceremony. I had a fun time shooting this wedding and a new experience working with the clouds and drizzle during formals. In the end I captured some really awesome evening shots of the bride and groom. The bride had such an amazingly beautiful dress and I loved the bright red in their wedding. All of this made for a fun wedding.
